(Equisetum arvense)

Description

Horsetail is renowned for stopping the flow of blood, binding tissues, and increasing urine production. This is one of the richest sources of silica, it also possess other important minerals. Herbalists prescribe horsetail for urinary problems, wounds, benign prostate disorders, and the pain of rheumatism or arthritis.

Take internally for: 

  • bladder infections
  • cystitis
  • prostatitis
  • incontinence
  • kidney stones
  • stomach ulcers
  • broken bones or sprained tendons
  • strengthening nails, skin, and hair
  • pain of rheumatism or arthritis

Apply externally for sores, wounds and inflammations. 

Caution

Do not self diagnose.

Can cause an upset stomach, diarrhoea and increased urination. 

If you take more than the recommended dosage you can experience pain in the kidneys or lower back, or upon urination, with nausea or vomiting.

Cardiac problems, including heart palpitations, may occur in cases of extreme overuse. Call your doctor immediately.

People with cardiac disease or high blood pressure should use horsetail with caution and under strict Professional supervision.

Pregnant women should avoid horsetail.
