Description

This Australian native plant is highly regarded the world over for its antiseptic qualities. The eucalyptus tree is also called the gum tree. 

The oil from eucalyptus leaves is the vital ingredient in many over-the-counter mouthwashes and decongestants. The oil can be used in many ways including household antiseptics, essential oils, inhalants, balms and lotions. 

How It May Benefit You… 

  • arthritis
  • rheumatism
  • minor cuts
  • scrapes. 

Put one or two drops in a basin of hot water and inhale for – 

  • asthma
  • influenza
  • bronchitis
  • whooping cough
  • colds, and other respiratory illnesses. 

NOTE:  Always close eyes when inhaling the vapours as they are very strong. 

Caution

Do not consume eucalyptus. Always close you eyes when using the essential oil as a vapour.

WARNING:    Herbs should only be used under the supervision of an experienced herbalist or naturopath experienced in herbs.

Availability

For use as an antiseptic: Dilute the oil with an equal amount of an alcohol-based topical antiseptic, and apply to cuts and open wounds after you have washed them with soap.

For a rubMix 1 to 5 drops eucalyptus oil with 1 cup olive or other carrier oil.
